1989 Bordeaux

1989 Bordeaux

Thursday April 30, 2009

Speaker: Harriet Lembeck, Wine Educator, President of Wine & Spirits Program

Michael Broadbent said “unquestionably a great vintage and one which brought the decade to a resounding close”.1989 was as close to the perfect growing season as you could hope for.

For this 5 star vintage, the communes of St-Julien, Pauillac and Pomerol produced the finest wines. We tasted 11 wines. All wines showed well. One vote for favorite from Flight I, two votes for favorite from Flight II, and one vote for favorite from Flight III.

Château Trotanoy was the favorite of Flight I. Château Citran was the favorite of Flight II, Château Talbot was for second favorite of Flight II. Château Mouton Rothschild was the favorite of Flight III. Prices are median New York area prices found on the web. Every wine showed perfect storage conditions. It was an amazing tasting of great wines.
