Speaker: Eric Dubourg, Owner of Wineberry LTD
The Bordeaux Wine Bureau in a recent blind tasting of nearly 350 wines selected 100 that were excellent representations of Bordeaux values. All 12 wines we have selected have prices under $30.
Eric Dubourg gave a detailed educational seminar on the history of Bordeaux; terroirs, climate, appellations and vintages. He outlined the role of winemakers, cooperatives, negotiants and brokers and discussed the blending of grape varieties. We tasted 12 wines; 4 white and 8 reds from most of the appellations within Bordeaux. All the wines presented showed well. Prices are full markup retail price. We asked for one vote for favorite white, three votes for favorite red. Chateau Villa Bel-Air Graves Blanc 2004 was the favorite white, Seuil de Mazeyre- Pomerol 2005 tied with Haut de Brillette 2005-Moulis for the favorite red. Chateau Larose Trintaudon 2003 – Medoc placed third. Everyone had a wonderful learning and tasting experience.
