12 Vintages of Chateau Mouton Rothschild

12 Vintages of Chateau Mouton Rothschild

Wednesday November 28, 2007

Speaker: Harriet Lembeck, Wine Educator, President of Wine & Spirits Program

First I am, Second I was, I, Mouton do not change. We tasted 12 vintages of Chateau Mouton Rothschild: 1970, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002. They were all in good condition and showed well. Based on the hiring of an oenologist consultant in 1998, we noticed a change to a modern style for the 2000.

One vote for favorite was taken for Flight I and II, 2 votes for favorite for Flight III and IV and one vote for overall favorite was taken at the end. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982 was the overall favorite. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1986 was the favorite of Flight I and Flight II. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1988 placed second for Fight I and Flight II. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982 was the favorite of Flight III and IV and Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2000 placed second for Flight III and IV. The prices were found on the web. Prices are median New York area prices found on the web. All the wines showed well. It was an amazing tasting of great wines.
