Quady Dessert Wines & Chocolate

Quady Dessert Wines & Chocolate

Monday, November 17, 2003

Speaker: Andrew Quady, Proprietor

Quady Winery specializes in dessert and aperitif wines. Their dessert wines include both fortified and natural sweet styles plus port type wines which are marketed under the designation "Starboard".

Essensia and Electra are made from the little known Orange Muscat grape which originated in Italy. Elysium and Red Electra are based on the Muscat Hamburg which was created in England as a hothouse variety. Muscat grapes are known for their perfumed character.

Muscats (Black Muscat is the local name for Muscat Hamburg) are indeed very special. Orange Muscat smells like a mixture of orange, orange blossom, and apricot whereas the Black Muscat smells like roses with a lichee character to the taste.

Marcel, Chef for Rami Sambath General Manager of Maison du Chocolat presented a rich, luscious sampling of Sauternes and Pauillac Chocolates with the Dessert Flight and Ganache Chocolates to accompany the Ports.

Elizabeth Nicoloai, President of CARLIE'S: American Tradition, Inc served scrumptious Classic American Brownies and Chocolate/Chocolate Cake.
