Jacob's Creek & Wyndham-South Australia's Commitment to Quality & Heritage

Jacob's Creek & Wyndham-South Australia's Commitment to Quality & Heritage

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Speaker: Philip Laffer, Chief Winemaker, Jacob's Creek, and Wyndham

Philip Laffer chief winemaker for Jacob's Creek and Wyndham explored his 50 years of making wine in Australia. He explained how he uses the microclimates and the very best vineyards in South Australia to create benchmark wines. With wines ranging from $12.00 - $80.00 – Wyndham and Jacob's Creek are able to fit into any wine consumer's lifestyle. Philip explored the 3 different collections comparing and contrasting the style and blending of each varietal. During the tasting Philip covered where the Australian wine industry started and where it is today and a glimpse into the future. What new techniques or varietals are being planted to account for change in climate? How Wyndham and Jacob's Creek are investing in sustainability in all aspects of their viticulture and winemaking practices? We tasted 12 wines from Wyndham and Jacob’s Creek. Most liked Wyndham Estate Sparkling Shiraz as the aperitif. Jacob’s Creek - Reeves Point Chardonnay 2004 was the favorite of flight I.
