We tasted 12 wonderful wines from all the major Italian wine regions. Gavi di Gavi Villa Sparina 2005 was the favorite white, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Sartarelli 2004 was the second favorite white. Chianti Classico Castell'in Villa 2000 was the favorite red. Barolo Serralunga Fontanafredda 2001 was the second favorite red. Both Prosecco Fantinel NV and Moscato d'Asti Massolino 2005 were liked by all.

Prosecco Fantinel NV
100% Prosecco, Fermentation: Charmat method. Fruili region. Grapes are hand picked during the last harvest week .Straw yellow color. Fruity bouquet with hints of apples. Flavors of fruit and minerality on the palate. The Prosecco offers small bubbles that last in the glass. A lovely Prosecco.

Grape: 100% Pinot Grigio, manually harvested, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Bright yellow color, with fruit aromas of pear and spice. Velvety and full flavored on the palate. Long finish. |

Grape: 100% Cortese
Soil: Marley Clay
Fermentation: 3 weeks in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; it then undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Aged 3 months in bottle.
Pale straw color with a floral nose and hints of peach. Pear and citrus flavors on the palate. Soft, balanced with long finish. The favorite of this flight. |

Grape: 100% Verdicchio
Soil: Calcerous mixture
Fermentation: Stainless steel tanksAged 4 months in stainless steel tanks; 3 months in the bottle.
Straw yellow in color with green tints. Honey suckle, melon aroma on the nose, well rounded, soft on the palate. The second favorite of the flight. |

Fiano di Avellino Villa Raiano 2004
100% Fiano grape.
Soil: Dolomic and Calcareous rocks
Fermentation: 15 days in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
Straw yellow color. Aromas of exotic fruits and field grass. Full bodied, rustic, hints of citrus fruits in the mouth and a long finish. |

Vermentino Tyrsos Contini 2004
100 % Vermentino grape. Granite soil, fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aged in stainless steel. Straw yellow color with a coppery cast. Aromas of dried white flowers and pear on the nose. Palate is clean and austere. Finish is long with a lot of acid.

100% Nero d'Avola grape. Clay and sand mix soil. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Ruby red in color with intense aromas of vanilla and spice. On the palate it is bursting with bright cherry fruit, balanced acidity and exotic spices.

95% Sangiovese grape. 1 year in oak barrels.Black cherry and crushed rose petals on the nose. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with whiffs of smoke and more black cherries. Long finish. A definite food wine. |

Grape: Blend of 40 % Corvina, 30% Corvina Grossa, 20% Rondinella, 10% Molinara. Limestone soil, Fermented in coneshaped Oak casks, partially aged in oak for 3 months. Deep red color. Aromas of red fruits, raspberries on the nose. Palate of herbs, spice and more red fruits and nice soft tannins. |

Chianti Classico Castell'in Villa 2000
100% Sangiovese grape. Italian wine maker is Giacomo Tachis. Fermented in stainless steel tanks then aged 12 months in oak casks. Following barrel aging, the wine is bottle aged in the estate cellar, typically two years. Red berry, earth, spice in nose and palate. Red berry fruit with hints of cocoa and licorice with superb depth and rich long finish. An elegant wine.

Barolo Serralunga Fontanafredda 2001
100% Nebbiolo grape. Sand, Limestone and Grey Mari soil. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 15 days. Aged 1 year in French Allier oak barrique: 1 year in Allier oak casks; 8-10 months in bottle. Garnet red color with ruby highlights. Vanilla, spices, roses in nose. Full bodied, velvet and well balanced on the palate with a long lingering finish. The second favorite of the Flight.

Moscato d'Asti Massolino 2005
100% Moscato Bianco grape. Sand with lime soil. Fermented in stainless steel. Straw yellow color. Aroma and palate of citrus notes, peach, honey. Sweet but not cloying with a long finish and some effervescence.
