In a world overrun by international grapes, Italy remains a distinct hold-out; a land blessed with a wealth of native grape varieties uniquely its own., think of the highly individual and seductively named Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Nero d'Avola, Negroamaro, Aglianico, Fiano and Verdicchio, to name just a few of the indigenous grapes for which Italy is justifiably renowned. We tasted 14 different wines from these distinctly unique Italian grapes. The favorite white was Feudi San Gregorio Falenghina di Sannio 2004. The favorite red wine was Bottega Vinaia Lagrein 2002.
