Michael Broadbent said "1990 was unquestionably an outstanding red wine 5 star vintage".
All the wines in the tasting showed well. The favorite of the evening was the 1990 Mommessin Clos de Tart with 58 votes. A balanced, complex, delicious and elegant wine.
1990 Weather conditions
A hot summer, the winter was unusually warm in February and March, encouraging vegetation. April and June was cooler, with a good deal of rain. Flowering was later than usual and the potentially large crop was reduced. The summer was hot and too dry with near draught conditions. Nevertheless, ripening was advanced and the harvest began early on September 17 in the Cote d'Or. Grapes were small and healthy with thick skins resulting in concentration of flesh and high sugar levels good color extraction and tannins.
The votes were weighted averages of votes for the top 4 favorite wines. The wines were bought at auction. No prices were available.
