TGIC Importers, Inc. began 24 years ago with only a single Chilean winery in their portfolio. Their dreams were big with a mission to establish themselves as a leading international producer, importer and marketer with the singular focus to bring the best wines of the world to its customers. Today their rich and diverse portfolio has grown to include 12 of the finest wineries from around the world, representing the best winemakers in the world today. Their passion for wine is exceeded only by their devotion to provide their clients and suppliers with the kind of enthusiasm and dedication that has become their hallmark. We were pleased to introduce you to 12 of the exceptional wines of the TGIC portfolio;. Robert Parker & the Wine Enthusiast rated EVERY wine we tasted over 90 points. 7 of the wines tasted retail over $60 per bottle.

Prices are full markup retail price. We asked for like or dislike for Flight I, one vote for favorite for Flight II, two votes for favorite for Flight III and one vote for Flight IV. Montes Ltd Sauvignon Blanc Leyda 2007 was liked. Pascual Toso Reserve Malbec 2006 and Achaval-Ferrer Quimera 2005 were tied for favorite of Flight II. Paul Hobbs/Pascual Toso Magdalena 2002 was the favorite of Flight III with Bodega Norton Perdriel 2003 placing second. Montes Folly Syrah 2004 was the favorite of Flight IV. All the wines showed well.

Montes Ltd Sauvignon Blanc Leyda 2007 - Chile
100% Sauvignon Blanc No oak aging. Light yellow green color, clear. Aroma of peaches and other tropical fruits with citrus hints together with a nice minerality. Crisp and fruity but bone dry. Long finish. Will last up to 2 years.

Pascual Toso Reserve Malbec 2006 - Argentina
100% Malbec. Aged for 12 months in new oak. 80% American Oak & 20% French Oak barrels. Aged 4 months in bottles before release. 14% alcohol, 1.86g/l sugar, 6.52g/l acidity, PH 3.5. Plenty of fruit, round, inviting. Very sweet but consistent tannins. Long finish. Tied for favorite of the flight.

Achaval-Ferrer Quimera 2005 - Argentina
Grape : 35% old vine Malbec from Medrano, 30% Merlot, 25% old vine Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Very low yield. Primary fermentation performed in small tanks. The wines are then pressed and blended. Quimera maloactic fermentation in French oak barrels(98%) and American oak barrels(2%), 1/3 new and 2/3 one year old. It was aged in barrel for 12 months. Unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of chocolate, and blackberry. On the palate, earth, blackberry and leather. Long finish. Tied for favorite of this flight.

Montes Alpha M 2003 - Chile
Grapes: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot
Intense dark red color, aromas of dried cherry, black currant, roasted coffee. Ripe red and black fruit flavors. Soft and rounded tannins. Will least at least 20 years.

Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2003 - Argentina
Grapes: Malbec 92%, Cabernet Sauvignon 8%.
Aged in French Oak barrels for 12 months. Dark violet color, blueberry, butterscotch and spice aromas as in the palate. Full bodied, persistent and round tannins. Perfectly balanced. Can last 10 years.

Bodega Norton Perdriel 2003 - Argentina
Single Vineyard. Grapes: Malbec 70% Merlot 18%, Cabernet Sauvignon 12% Vineyard attitude 950 m. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The nose offers black olive, berry and chocolate. Black cherry, cassis on the palate. Balanced tannin. Elegant. The second favorite of this flight.

Paul Hobbs/Pascual Toso Magdalena 2002 - Argentina
Grapes: 90% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Grapes are carefully chosen, cluster by cluster & grain by grain. 10 years of fermentation and 15 days of maceration post fermentation. Aged 20 months in first-used French Oak barrels. Aged in bottle one year before released. Intense red color with a complex nose of violets and plums. Notes of boysenberry and raspbery fruit on the palate and vanilla, spice and chocolate on the finish. Totally balanced with a very long finish. The favorite of this flight.

Achaval-Ferrer Finca Mirador 2004 - Argentina
Grape: 100% Malbec. 70 year old vines. Low yields. Less then one pound of grapes per plant (1/3 of a bottle). Fermentation took place in a small tank. At dryness, the wine was pressed and racked into 100% new French oak barrels, where it was aged for 14 months. Bottled without fining or filtering. Dark color. Black tea, black raspberry and dark chocolate aroma. Mint and black pepper on the palate. Hot; huge tannin structure & complexity that should last at least 7-10 years.

Santa Ema Rivalta 2003 - Chile
Grapes: 64% Carmenere, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah. Deep red color, aroma of sweet prunes, licorice, with chocolate notes and black fruits. Concentrated flavors on the mouth with rounded and persistent finish.

Santa Ema Amplus One 2005 - Chile
Grapes: Camenere 75%, Syrah 20%, Carignan 5%. Aged 12 months in 100% new French oak. Purple color, aromas of blackberry, and cherries, ripe fruit, soft tannins and good balance. Long finish will evolve for 3-5 years.

Grapes: Camenere 92%, Petit Verdot 8%. Blackberry and cassis on nose and palate. Velvety tannin, complex, many layers of espresso, mineral, currant. Long finish. Delicious.

100% Syrah. Deep ruby color. Blackberry and cassis vanilla oak and licorice aromas. Supple, sweet and luscious blackberry flavors, velvety tannins and great depth. Long finish. The favorite of this flight.
