2000 Bordeaux

2000 Bordeaux

Thursday May 8, 2008

Speaker: Harriet Lembeck, Wine Educator, President of Wine & Spirits Program

According to the Wine Spectator-"The decline of the dollar against the Euro put upward pressure on the 2000's, as did the highly expensive futures prices of the 2005 vintage. Most have risen in price by almost 100%."
Robert Parker- "Suffice to say that 2000 Bordeaux already must be considered among the best vintages of our lives."
We tasted 12 wines. One vote for favorite from wines from the Right Bank, one vote for favorite from Pessac-Leognan and two votes for favorite from Pauillac. Château Trotanoy was the favorite of Flight I. Château Haut Brion was the favorite of Flight II, Château Lynch-Bages was the favorite of Flight III. Château Mouton-Rothschild placed second. Prices are median New York area prices found on the web. All the wines showed well. It was an amazing tasting of great wines.
