Tastersguildny Tour of Top Wines From Veneto, Rioja, Chile, & Argentina

We tasted 12 of the finest wines from Veneto, Rioja, Chile and Argentina.
We asked for one vote for Favorite for each Flight.
Famiglia Pasqua Amarone 2012 was the favorite of Flight I. Baron de Ley Reserva 2011 and Finca Reserva Museum 2011tied for favorite of Flight II. Santa Carolina Herencia Carmenere 2010 was the favorite of Flight III. Finca El Origen Gran Reserve Malbec 2015 was the favorite of Flight IV. All the wines showed well. A grand time was had by all. The cheese was Cabot Vermont Sharp Yellow Cheddar.

Passimento Blanco 2016
Garganega grape made in the appasimento technique, the grapes are partially dried for several days increasing their flavor & sugar concentration.

A beautiful white made from 100% Garganega grapes. There are notes of citrus with a crisp taste and a touch of sweetness from peaches. It’s extremely well balanced and delicious.

Rose 2016
This delicate wine has fragrances and flavors of strawberry-water and watermelon essence. This rosé has loads of concentrated flavor and a lovely, mouth coating texture with acid, mineral and smoky notes nicely balancing the youthful and rich red fruit.

This wine is made from 40% Merlo, 30% Corvina, and 30% Croatina grapes. There is a great taste of berries and spices. Rich and intense

Deep garnet red color. Strawberry, blueberry, and leather on the nose.
Big and bold in the palate with tons of oaky toffee.

Deep, bright, cherry red with flavors of black cherry, licorice, forest floor and smoke in this balanced red. Light firm tannins and lively acidity with a savory finish.

Deep intense ruby color. Concentrated aromas of black fruits, with vanilla. Full and well-rounded on the palate with a long finish. Tied for Favorite of this Flight.

Finca Reserva Museum 2011
Deep ruby in color. Ripe red berry fruits, spice and toast on the nose, followed by licorice and mineral notes. The palate is delicate with silky tannins, a rounded body and an elegant, long lasting finish. A unique and complex wine. Tied for Favorite of this Flight.

Mineral, tropical fruit on the nose and a bit of bell pepper on the palate.

Deep purple color. Aromas of red fruits and cassis with soft cedar notes. On the palate you taste Cabernet Sauvignon with strong ripe tannins.

Herencia is regarded as one of Chile's very best Carmenères. A concentrated nose, of blackberry, cassis, baking spices, and herbal notes.
